Testing new iPhone Tumblr app…
Back in Chicago, en route via cab to Evanston. I have an irrational fear of cabs and always get anxious when I’m riding alone. Additionally, I’m exhausted from my flight and my face hurts from crying and not sleeping. Just want to be in bed - guess the one in my apartment will suffice!
I am never living alone again. More on that when I move out, though.

Leaving is the worst. It is the absolute worst. I am at my gate crying under my sunglasses because I feel like crap for spending such little time in Phoenix when I won’t be able to come here again until after the LSAT. Ughhh, and I have puffy piggy eyes and I’m all stuffed up and some creepy man is staring at me.
Scott and I also saw Tropic Thunder and the new Star Wars animated movie. Obviously, I kind of preferred the former to the latter. It was hilarious, and Scott and I have been quoting it all weekend. I understand the controversy over it, but I thought that the way it was portrayed in the film gave it an interesting depth - as in, using someone else’s disability as a kind of Oscar gold acting crutch. Still, I really hate it when people use the phrase “mentally retarded” or any variation, so there’s that.
Oh, and the SW movie was very kid-oriented at times (obviously), but the dialogue was better than most SW movies. It was fun, and I convinced Scott to let me sneak our Chick-fil-A into the theater - we had it for lunch and then as a little movie snack on Saturday.
I make fun happen. That’s my job.
— Scott, on why he’s a good host and we only do things that we’ll both enjoy equally.
Yesterday Scott and I went to the Phoenix Zoo - so fun, but so miserably hot. I also was not discriminating enough with the SPF 15 I found in Scott’s bathroom (he bought me all the Proactiv stuff I use!), and destroyed my attempt for an even upper body tan. So I have a weird sunburn (luckily, a very minor sunburn - not even tender) on my shoulders and chest now. However, the Phoenix Zoo was probably the best zoo I’ve ever been to, and Scott and I took lots of pictures. Long arms, and Scott’s eye for the best shot, helped us take many couple-y pictures with the animals actually in the background. We got some particularly good ones with Cookie and Sheik, the two lions. I will put up a slideshow when I get home. I also got a video of the Jaguar growling. One woman shrieked when he started, and after about a minute of video I told Scott we should leave - I think the jungle cat did not like so many people watching him. We’re going to go back in the fall, since it will be cooler and the animals will be less heatstroke-y. Poor things - all they could do was find the shadiest spot in their habitat (it was a huge zoo, and only the reptiles/insects weren’t in open-air exhibits) and rest. They even had to take some of them off exhibit because it was too hot. We’ll also go back in the fall because it was way too hot for us to manage, and we skipped an entire exhibit because we were so sweaty and gross. We made it to everything but the “Arizona Trail.”
After the zoo, we decided to get fish for dinner. We both love sushi, so we thought we’d try making it. I was in charge of the tempura (I complained that Scott didn’t give me enough responsibility for the Saturday night dinner we “made together,” in which I got to make the salad), and Scott made the sushi. It was a huge success, and we rock at cooking. Next time, we’re going to switch things up and see how I do at sushi - I’m sure Scott won’t get as many little oil burns with the tempura, thanks to his long arms. Also, it was my idea to integrate the Sriracha, so I’m taking credit for the awesomeness that was the spicy rolls Scott made on the second sushi pass.
Today Scott is working (he tried to get the day off, so he left a little after 4 AM for work to try and get home early this afternoon to spend time with me), which means I have the morning to myself in his apartment. I might venture out to get lunch later, but I fear the heat. I have to drink lots of water here, or else I get dehydrated really fast.
I am really sad to leave because Scott and I won’t see each other again until probably October, but we are planning on some quality time in the fall and winter since it will be cool enough in Phoenix to do things like hiking without getting heatstroke…or smelling like a rhino (they smell…a LOT).
Scott and I went to the Phoenix Zoo today, and now we’re trying to find sashimi-grade fish to make sushi.

I cancelled my Monday appointment at Student Health and went to Urgent Care instead. It didn’t take long, they were nice, and I got antibiotics. Woohoo!
I think I’m just gonna spend the rest of my day holed up in my room reading. Maybe I’ll go on a bike ride later if I feel like it, and/or swing by Lilly to get a movie (since I tried to get Lost in Translation yesterday to no avail…).
(via ssh)
Justice to the rescue: Lost in Translation on Hulu.
Scottsdale/Phoenix is WAY more fun without a sorority convention!
